Three Months in Istanbul: A Realistic Budget for Your Stay (2026)
Plan a three-month Istanbul stay with an editable budget calculator, furnished-rental checks, monthly spending allowances and deposits kept separate from costs.
For one person, our worked examples put a three-month spending plan at €5,940–€11,770, before flights, refundable deposits and individual visa or medical costs. The middle example is €8,360, including a 10% contingency.
These are editable planning scenarios, not a measured city average or accommodation quotes. Housing and daily-life amounts below are editorial allowances. Public supplier examples are identified separately, with their limitations. Use the calculator to replace allowances with prices for your own dates.
Why three months costs more than three times the rent
You need somewhere furnished, a place to work, food, transport and room for unexpected expenses. You may also need money tied up in a deposit. A deposit can be refundable and still affect whether you can afford the move.
Our model uses three monthly housing payments and three months of living costs. A booking priced by the night can work differently, and three calendar months are not always 90 days. Check the complete payment schedule rather than multiplying a search-result price.
Three worked budgets, in euros
All examples are for one adult. The housing allowance assumes furnished accommodation and includes a provision for utilities and internet; check whether your quote actually includes them. The lower scenario may require a room, a smaller property or a different location. None guarantees a private apartment in a particular neighbourhood.

Add your flights, visa or residence-related costs, individual medical requirements and any refundable deposit. Setup allowances are placeholders, not caps on agency or platform fees. If the actual fee is larger, enter it. The calculator applies contingency to the extras you add, too.
A deposit is not included in these spending totals. For example, adding a €1,400 refundable deposit to the middle scenario means earmarking €9,760, even though planned spending remains €8,360. Payment timing depends on your contract; not everything will necessarily be due upfront.

What is inside the monthly living allowance?
Here is one way to allocate the middle example’s €1,000. These are spending limits you set, not current quotes for each service.

Your own insurance quote can differ substantially; the provision is not a promise of eligibility or adequate coverage. If you work at home and your accommodation has suitable Wi-Fi, you may not need a workspace membership. If cafés become a daily office, include those purchases in the meals-and-cafés line rather than treating them as free workspace.
The rental price matters less than the complete quote
A useful example from our September 9 source check: this Flatio Istanbul listing displayed €1,035 per 30 days, utilities and internet included, and a zero deposit. But it also displayed a 101-day minimum, while the service fee required dates to be selected. That makes it unsuitable as a confirmed quote for a 90-day stay. The retrieved page may lag changes, and availability was not checked with the host.
Flatio’s Istanbul results also mix rooms and whole properties with different suggested dates. Its price explanation says monthly averages are per 30 days and can vary by dates. We have not converted short-stay nightly prices into invented three-month deals.
Before comparing two properties, collect the same information for both:
- Exact arrival and departure dates, and the minimum stay.
- The full rent schedule, including any seasonal change.
- Utilities, internet and building charges included or excluded.
- Platform, cleaning and other non-refundable fees.
- Refundable deposit, return conditions and payment dates.
- Cancellation terms and evidence that the advertised workspace and Wi-Fi suit your needs.
A €200 difference in monthly housing changes the three-month total by €600 before contingency. In this model, that becomes €660 with a 10% buffer. Getting the housing quote right matters more than shaving a few small purchases.

A workspace price you can check directly
Impact Hub Istanbul’s published membership page lists ₺700 for a day pass, ₺1,600 for five days per month, ₺3,000 for ten days and ₺5,000 for twenty days. The twenty-day plan specifies weekday access, rather than unlimited round-the-clock use. Check the final quote, tax treatment and current terms before purchasing.
Those are supplier-posted lira prices retrieved on September 9, not euro conversions. They demonstrate why matching a membership to your actual routine matters. Keep lira prices and your home-currency budget separate
The calculator is in euros for consistency; it does not use a live exchange-rate feed. Convert each lira quote using the rate and charges you expect to pay. Do not mix a recent rent quote with an old exchange rate from another guide.

Check your permitted stay before committing to the rental
A three-month budget is not permission to stay or work for three months. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains the 90-in-180-day limit for visa and visa-exempt stays; your nationality and visa can allow less. Earlier visits count, and three calendar months can exceed 90 days.

Before you book
Get a complete accommodation quote first. Replace the housing, fees and deposit fields in the calculator. Then build your own daily-life allowance, add flights and individual costs, and decide on your contingency.
If the plan only works with a perfect exchange rate, no unexpected expenses and an immediate deposit refund, give yourself more room before booking.
