Short version: 2,000 TL for foreign visitors at the booth, which covers the state rooms, the Harem and the Painting Museum. Closed Mondays; the ticket office runs 09:00 to 17:00. Allow two to three hours. The Museum Pass doesn’t work here. Skip-the-line tickets cost about 550 TL more and are only worth it on a summer weekend.

Price and who pays

From Milli Saraylar’s own Dolmabahçe page, 2 October 2026:

The palace rules give the domestic price only to Turkish and Northern Cypriot citizens and Mavi Kart holders. A residence permit doesn’t count, so foreign residents pay 2,000 TL. Students with ID get a reduced ticket; foreign students pay twice the reduced price. The 8× gap with the citizen price is the largest at any big sight in the city; see the foreigner prices report.

Hours and closed days

  • Closed every Monday and on New Year’s Day.
  • Ticket office 09:00 to 17:00. Go before 15:00 so you have time for the Harem.
  • 10 November: the anniversary of Atatürk’s death in the palace. A special memorial route opens, free for everyone; expect very long queues.
  • No photography inside the rooms. Gardens and the Bosphorus front are fine.

Booth or skip-the-line

At the booth: 2,000 TL, by card. Out of season or on a weekday morning, this is all you need.

Skip-the-line: worth it on summer weekends, when the ticket queue can take an hour. You still go through security.

Other tickets we checked on 2 October 2026: a second Dolmabahçe and Harem entry ticket at 4.7 from 764 reviews (from about 3,010 TL; rating checked 13 October 2026); the most-booked “Fast-Track & Audio” ticket at 4.6 from 2,561 reviews; a skip-the-line entry by the Istanbul Tourist Pass at 4.5 from 643 (below our bar, not linked).

What you see

  1. Selamlık, the state side: the Crystal Staircase, the Ambassadors’ Hall and the Ceremonial Hall under a 4.5-tonne chandelier.
  2. Harem, the family quarters, including the room where Atatürk died on 10 November 1938. The clocks are stopped at 9:05.
  3. National Palaces Painting Museum in the former crown prince’s apartment, included in the 2,000 TL ticket.

Combine it with

  • A Bosphorus cruise. Boats leave from Kabataş and Beşiktaş, 10 minutes’ walk either side. See our Bosphorus cruise comparison.
  • Topkapı is the older palace and a different day; see Topkapı tickets. Doing both, plus Hagia Sophia and the Cistern, the E-pass can pay off.

Getting there

Tram T1 to Kabataş, then 5 minutes’ walk along the water to the Clock Tower gate. From Taksim, the F1 funicular down to Kabataş. Ferries from Üsküdar and Kadıköy stop at Kabataş and Beşiktaş.
