Vodafone Roaming in Turkey (2026): £8 a Day, or Cheaper

Official rules Updated · Last checked · reviewed by Nomad Istanbul editorial team

Turkey isn't in Vodafone's Europe zone or the 8-day European pass. Roaming is £8 a day (£56 a week) unless on Xtra Global Roam. A 20 GB eSIM: about £12.

Vodafone roaming in Turkey costs £8 a day on most plans (£56 for a week) to use your UK allowance, free on Xtra Global Roam plans, per Vodafone’s price list checked 13 October 2026. A cheaper option: a 20 GB Simbye eSIM is about £12 for 30 days, see the best eSIM for Turkey or all UK networks compared.

Short answer: Turkey isn’t in Vodafone’s Europe zone, so most plans charge £8 a day there (from 14 April 2026). That’s £56 for a week and £112 for two. Only Vodafone’s Xtra Global Roam plans include Turkey. The 8-day and 15-day European passes don’t cover it. A 20 GB travel eSIM for the same trip costs about £12 (compare the best eSIM for Turkey).

Turkey sits in Vodafone’s worldwide Zone C. Vodafone’s site lists Turkey among its Global Roam destinations; the full zone list we checked puts it in Zone C. Plans that started before 11 August 2021 may have older rates. Use Vodafone’s Roaming Charge Checker with your number to see your exact price.

The European passes don’t work in Turkey. Vodafone’s 8-day (£16) and 15-day (£21) pay monthly passes cover Zone B, its European destinations. Turkey isn’t in Zone B, so these passes won’t stop the £8 daily charge.

eSIM prices are Simbye’s checkout prices in dollars, converted at the European Central Bank rate on 16 October 2026 (£0.750 per $1); your card’s rate may differ slightly. The Vodafone daily charge lets you use your whole UK allowance (up to the 25 GB fair use limit), so it’s simpler for a day or two. Over a week, the eSIM saves you about £44, and over two weeks about £100.

How to set up your Vodafone phone for Turkey

  1. Check your plan in My Vodafone, or use the Roaming Charge Checker with your number and “Turkey”.
  2. Paying the daily charge? Turn off any roaming bars in My Vodafone (Manage Controls and Limits, then Data Roaming Bar) and check Spend Manager isn’t set to £0.
  3. On Pay as you go? Buy an Around the World Extra in the My Vodafone app, or text WORLDEXTRA8 or WORLDEXTRA15 to 49500. It can take up to 24 hours to activate.
  4. Using an eSIM instead? Install it at home on Wi-Fi and set it as your mobile data line. Turn data roaming off on the Vodafone line, or set a Data Roaming bar, so a stray data session doesn’t trigger £8.
  5. Charges can take up to 72 hours to show on your Vodafone bill while you’re abroad.

Buy the eSIM before you fly

Turkey’s telecom regulator (BTK) has blocked about 37 eSIM stores, including Airalo and Holafly. Their apps and websites don’t load on Turkish networks, so you can’t buy or top up after landing. Simbye’s store still loads from Turkey, but the safest plan is to buy and install any eSIM at home and check it shows a network before you leave. More in our Turkey eSIM block guide.
