Turkey Roaming Charges 2026: UK Networks Compared

Official rules Updated · Last checked · reviewed by Nomad Istanbul editorial team

Turkey is outside EU roaming on UK networks: £6 to £8 a day on EE, O2, Vodafone and Three (checked 13 Oct 2026). A 20 GB eSIM is about £12.

Short answer: Turkey isn’t in UK networks’ EU roaming, so most plans charge £6 to £8 a day there. EE charges £6 a day (or £30 a week), O2 £7, Vodafone £8 and Three £7 or £8 depending on when you joined. giffgaff plans don’t work in Turkey at all. Only some top plans include it free. A 20 GB travel eSIM covers a whole trip for about £12: see the best eSIM for Turkey. All prices were checked on each network’s own site and price guide on 13 October 2026.

Each network’s details are below. Every network has its own page with plan-by-plan details.

EE

On EE pay monthly, Turkey is in Rest of World Zone 1. Data only works with a pass: £6 for 24 hours, £30 for 7 days or £50 for 15 days, and the pass lets you use your UK allowance. Without a pass, data is off and calls cost £2.46 a minute (EE price guide, 3 September 2026). Full details, plan by plan: EE roaming in Turkey.

O2

Turkey isn’t in O2’s Europe Zone or in the 27-destination Inclusive Zone that comes with Volt and Plus Plans. It’s included free only on Ultimate Plans. Everyone else adds the O2 Travel Bolt On: £7 for each day you use your phone, with unlimited calls, texts and data. Full details: O2 roaming in Turkey.

Vodafone

Turkey is one of Vodafone’s 84 Global Roam destinations, and it’s included on Vodafone’s Xtra Global Roam plans. On other pay monthly plans, Vodafone charges a daily fee to use your allowance in its worldwide zones: £8 a day from 14 April 2026, up from £7.86. That’s £56 for a week and £112 for two weeks. Vodafone applies a 25 GB roaming fair use limit. Older plans that started before August 2021 may have different rates, so check My Vodafone. Vodafone’s 8-day and 15-day passes are European passes and don’t cover Turkey. Full details: Vodafone roaming in Turkey.

Three

Three puts Turkey in its Go Roam Around the World Extra band. If your plan doesn’t include roaming, a daily charge unlocks your UK allowance (up to 12 GB of data) for 24 hours:

  • £7 a day if you joined or upgraded between 1 October 2021 and 17 December 2025, or are on the 24-month SIM-only Lite plan with 25 GB or 120 GB taken from 1 June 2025.
  • £8 a day if you joined or upgraded on or after 18 December 2025 (from 1 April 2026).

A Go Roam Around the World Extra pass is cheaper for longer trips: £17.50 for 3 days, £42 for 7 days, £84 for 14 days. Three Your Way Value and Complete plans include roaming or Go Roam passes; check yours in the Three app. Go Roam Around the World Extra is not available on Pay As You Go or on plans that started before 1 October 2021. Full details: Three roaming in Turkey.

giffgaff

giffgaff plans don’t work in Turkey (full giffgaff Turkey guide). Everything you use is paid from credit at giffgaff’s rest-of-world rates, with data starting at 20p a MB. At that rate, 1 GB would cost about £205. giffgaff does sell Türkiye travel data add-ons in its app (1 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB sizes are offered for selected destinations). They only work in Turkey, and you need a separate one for each country. Check the Türkiye add-on price in the app before you fly; for most trips a travel eSIM will still be cheaper.

Roaming or eSIM?

Roaming makes sense if Turkey is included in your plan, if your trip is a day or two, or if you need your UK number to work exactly as at home.

An eSIM makes sense for anything longer. A week of roaming costs £30 to £56; a 20 GB Simbye eSIM is $16.15 with code NOMADISTAN15 (about £12.10, affiliate link) and lasts 30 days. Heavy users can get unlimited data for 30 days for $42.50 (about £32): see our unlimited data eSIM comparison.

eSIM prices are Simbye’s checkout prices in dollars, converted at the European Central Bank rate on 16 October 2026 (£0.750 per $1); your card’s rate may differ slightly. Your phone must be unlocked and support eSIM, which most iPhones from the XS onwards and recent Samsung and Pixel phones do.

How to use both: install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, set it as your mobile data line, and turn data roaming off on your UK SIM. Your UK number keeps working for calls and texts at your network’s rates.

Whether you’re heading to Istanbul or a beach resort on the Antalya, Dalaman or Bodrum coast, the Turkish networks the eSIM uses (Türk Telekom, Vodafone and Turkcell) cover the same areas.

Buy the eSIM before you fly

Turkey’s telecom regulator (BTK) has blocked about 37 eSIM stores, including Airalo and Holafly. Their apps and websites don’t load on Turkish networks, so you can’t buy or top up after landing. Simbye’s store still loads from Turkey, but buy and install any eSIM at home, and check it shows a network before you leave for the airport.
