EE Roaming in Turkey (2026): £6 a Day, or Cheaper

Official rules Updated · Last checked · reviewed by Nomad Istanbul editorial team

Turkey isn't in EE's EU roaming. On pay monthly, data needs a pass: £6 a day, £30 a week or £50 for 15 days (Sep 2026). A 20 GB eSIM is about £12.

EE roaming in Turkey costs £6 a day on pay monthly (£30 for 7 days, £50 for 15 days), using your UK minutes, texts and data allowance, per EE’s price guide checked 13 October 2026. A cheaper option: a 20 GB Simbye eSIM is about £12 for 30 days, see the best eSIM for Turkey or all UK networks compared.

Short answer: Turkey isn’t covered by EE’s EU roaming. On EE pay monthly, Turkey is in Rest of World Zone 1. To use data there you buy a pass: £6 for 24 hours, £30 for 7 days or £50 for 15 days, which lets you use your UK allowance (EE price guide, 3 September 2026). Without a pass there’s no data at all, and calls cost £2.46 a minute. A 20 GB travel eSIM for the same trip costs about £12; here is the best Turkey eSIM for it.

Which EE plan are you on?

Your plan decides whether Turkey costs extra. EE’s own Turkey help page, viewed without logging in, says no passes are shown for Turkey and standard charges apply. Log in to My EE or the EE app to see the passes and extras on your account.

eSIM prices are Simbye’s checkout prices in dollars, converted at the European Central Bank rate on 16 October 2026 (£0.750 per $1); your card’s rate may differ slightly. An EE pass uses your UK allowance, so if you have a big data plan and a short trip, the 24-hour pass can be simpler. For a week or more, the eSIM is cheaper.

If you stream a lot, Simbye’s unlimited 30-day plan is $42.50 with code NOMADISTAN15 (about £32, affiliate link). Compare every Turkey eSIM in our best eSIM for Turkey guide.

How to set up your EE phone for Turkey

  1. Text ROAMING to 150 before you travel. EE uses this to check your phone is ready to roam.
  2. Check your Spend Cap. If it is set too low to cover a £6 or £30 pass, you can’t buy one abroad.
  3. Turn on data roaming in your phone settings if you plan to use an EE pass.
  4. Buy your pass. You get a welcome text with a link when you land, or go to add-on.ee.co.uk. EE also lets you pre-book passes before you travel when you log in.
  5. Using an eSIM instead? Install it at home on Wi-Fi. Set the eSIM as your mobile data line and turn data roaming off on the EE line. Keep the EE line on if you want calls and texts at EE’s rates.
  6. Text BALANCE to 150 to check your allowance while you’re away.

Going to Greece or Cyprus, not Turkey? EE warns your phone can pick up a Turkish network near the coast and charge you for it. Text EUROAM to 150 so it only connects to EU networks.

Buy the eSIM before you fly

Turkey’s telecom regulator (BTK) has blocked about 37 eSIM stores, including Airalo and Holafly. Their apps and websites don’t load on Turkish networks, so you can’t buy or top up once you land. Simbye’s store still loads from Turkey, but the safest plan is the same for any eSIM: buy and install it at home, then check it shows a network before you leave for the airport. The full story is in our Turkey eSIM block guide.
